a serious play on war
much is a buzz in my life, love and writing. i've recently redrafted a script LiveWire Chicago Theatre will be producing in the spring during their 2007-2008 Season. Look for "Soldiers: The Desert Stand" April 10 - May 4, 2008. It will be directed by our Artistic Director, Glenn Proud. I'm very happy to have this play in his capable hands.
The play tells the story of a rambunctious twelve year old girl, Toma Singerson, who, while playing a combat video game, is recruited by the Army. She, along with a couple of ill-fit soldiers, signs up under the command of an overzealous Sergeant, Bill. With a war at hand, the troop is shipped off to the desert to fight against equally foolish soldiers. A dark comedy, "Soldiers: The Desert Stand", takes an absurd look at the Army recruiting system, which seems to take whomever walks through their doors and ships them off to whatever war they happen to feel like entering into at the time⦠time and time again.
i'm pretty psyched about the play. I hope you will seriously consider coming to the show. more information to come at www.livewirechicago.com.
Peace.
